Dr Albrecht, a graduate from the prestigious Heidelberg University, has published over two hundred highly cited papers on her neuroscience research. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Academy of Medical Sciences, and is the recipient of the Christiane Nusslein-Volhard Award and the Lasker Award. Dr Albrecht has appeared on the cover of Time magazine and her peers describe her as a once-in-a-generation thinker. The sudden emergence of K2 horrified Dr Albrecht, who experienced it closely when it took the life of two close friends. In 2028, Dr Albrecht left her high-profile position in the corporate world and founded Cardinal Research with her savings and generous support from a few friends. In establishing Cardinal Research, Dr Albrecht made a promise that she would not stop until she cracked the code of the complex disorder and found a cure for K2.
