Our
Story

Cardinal Research

Cardinal Researchth is the world’s leading centre for research on K2. Cardinal Research has eight laboratories across three continents and six countries, with over 5,000 staff working tirelessly on a cure for K2.

The story of Cardinal Research is about hard work, compassion, and determination. These are the ideals of the founder and managing director of Cardinal Research — Dr Edde Albrecht.

For over thirty years, Dr Albrecht has been one of the world’s most acclaimed medical researchers, forging a celebrated career in both the academic and private sectors. Over the last ten years, Dr Albrecht has established herself as the world’s leading expert on neurodegenerative disorders.

Dr Albrecht, a graduate from the prestigious Heidelberg University, has published over two hundred highly cited papers on her neuroscience research. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Academy of Medical Sciences, and is the recipient of the Christiane Nusslein-Volhard Award and the Lasker Award. Dr Albrecht has appeared on the cover of Time magazine and her peers describe her as a once-in-a-generation thinker. Her research and her leadership have contributed significantly to the well-being of millions of people around the globe.

The sudden emergence of K2 horrified Dr Albrecht, who experienced it closely when it took the life of two close friends. In 2028, Dr Albrecht left her high-profile position in the corporate world and founded Cardinal Research with her savings and generous support from a few friends. In establishing Cardinal Research, Dr Albrecht made a promise that she would not stop until she cracked the code of the complex disorder and found a cure for K2.

Through her selflessness, passion, and perseverance, Cardinal Research has become the leading authority on K2. In ten short years, Dr Albrecht and the Cardinal Research team have gained an unrivalled understanding of K2, developing many products that help prevent the onset of the disease, and are closer than ever to bringing the world a cure.
